Conditions We Treat with Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy at 417 Performance is applied as part of a comprehensive soft-tissue and rehab protocol — not in isolation. It's particularly effective for releasing myofascial restriction, improving local circulation, and reducing muscle guarding in the areas contributing to your pain. We use it to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across the spine, upper extremities, and lower extremities for active adults and athletes throughout Springfield and the 417 area.
- Spine and neck: low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, mid-back pain, and headaches
- Upper extremity: shoulder impingement, rotator cuff pain, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and frozen shoulder
- Lower extremity: hip pain, IT band syndrome, runner's knee, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and hamstring strain

Cupping Therapy Questions
Straightforward answers about what to expect at 417 Performance in Springfield.
Cupping therapy uses specialized cups to create negative pressure on the skin and underlying soft tissue. This suction effect lifts the fascia and muscle tissue, increasing local blood flow, reducing myofascial tension, and helping break up adhesions that restrict movement. At 417 Performance, we use cupping as part of a broader soft-tissue protocol — combined with manual therapy, dry needling, IASTM, and corrective exercise — rather than as a standalone treatment.
Cupping is generally well-tolerated and many patients describe a feeling of pressure or warmth rather than pain. The circular marks (ecchymosis) you've seen on athletes are a normal physiological response to the suction and typically fade within a few days. Your doctor will explain what to expect before your treatment begins.
417 Performance is a self-pay clinic, which means your care is guided entirely by your clinical needs — not by what an insurance company will or won't authorize. We accept HSA/FSA cards and can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Our all-inclusive flat-rate pricing means cupping therapy, dry needling, adjustments, IASTM, and corrective exercise are all included in a single visit cost with no upsells.
Most chiropractic offices focus on spinal manipulation and get you in and out in 15 minutes. At 417 Performance, every visit is 30–60 minutes of one-on-one time with your doctor. We combine cupping therapy with joint mobilization, dry needling, soft tissue work, and structured corrective exercise to address not just your pain, but the movement dysfunction causing it. You'll always know the why behind your treatment.
No referral is needed. The easiest first step is booking a free Discovery Call — a one-on-one phone consultation where we learn your injury history, understand your goals, and map out the right path forward before you ever walk through the door. Same-week appointments are typically available.
